On September 15, 2025, the Sukhothai Office of Special Area for Sustainable Tourism held a meeting to prepare for the assessment of Sukhothai–Si Satchanalai World Heritage sites under the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) criteria. The session focused on sustainable tourism management, community participation, and heritage conservation to strengthen the long-term sustainability of Sukhothai–Si Satchanalai as a world-class tourism destination.
Burapha University International College (BUUIC) has received funding from the Sustainable Tourism Management Knowledge Center (STMKC) to carry out this assessment of the destination’s sustainability status based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) Version 2.0 for the fiscal year 2025
