On October 6, 2026, Burapha University International College (BUUIC) welcomed Dr. Chelsey Laird and five Queen Elizabeth Scholarship (QES) students from Canada for a community visit as part of the “Resilience Leaders from the Ground Up: Community-Based Human Capital Development” project. The project provides them with opportunities to learn directly from local communities and work together on issues related to climate change, sustainability, and community resilience.
The project is led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Krittipat Pitchayadejanant, Dean of BUUIC, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Kannapat Kankaew, Associate Dean for Research and Innovation Development, and coordinated by Asst. Prof. Hataipat Phungpumkaew, Associate Dean for International Affairs and Global Relations.
Through this initiative, Canadian students have the opportunity to learn from and work alongside local communities in Thailand, gaining a deeper understanding of practical approaches to climate change adaptation and community resilience. More importantly, the project goes beyond classroom learning by connecting international students with local people and giving them opportunities to contribute to initiatives that respond to real community needs.
BUUIC is pleased to support this collaboration, which brings together international education, student mobility, sustainability, and community engagement. It also creates a valuable space for students from Canada and Thailand to learn from one another and share perspectives through real-world experiences.
The visit marked another step in building connections among BUUIC, UMAP, Canadian institutions, and local communities, with a shared commitment to creating international learning experiences that can contribute positively and practically to society.
