BUUIC Advances Green Initiatives by Installing Water Filtration Systems to Reduce Plastic Bottle Usage – Supporting SDGs and Green Office Policy

Burapha University International College (BUUIC) continues to advance its commitment to environmental sustainability by implementing a new initiative aimed at reducing the use of single-use plastic bottles. This effort supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aligns with the Green Office policy adopted by the College.

As part of this initiative, BUUIC has successfully reduced its monthly purchase of bottled drinking water from 100 packs to only 50 packs—resulting in a monthly cost saving of over 2,400 THB. Additionally, the College has installed two high-quality water filtration systems on the 1st and 2nd floors of its academic building, providing free access to clean drinking water for all staff and students.

To complement these efforts, the College actively encourages the use of personal reusable containers, urging the community to avoid single-use plastic bottles. The primary objective of the project is to significantly reduce plastic waste—particularly from bottled water, which is among the most common waste items within the organization. It also aims to foster environmentally conscious behavior in everyday life.

This initiative is fully aligned with BUUIC’s long-standing Green Office policy and directly supports the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
  • SDG 13: Climate Action

BUUIC remains firmly committed to cultivating an environmentally responsible organizational culture and continues to engage staff and students in sustainability-focused activities that contribute to a greener, more sustainable world.
