BUUIC has been commissioned by the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), through its Special Area Office for Sustainable Tourism in Ko Chang and Vicinity (DASTA Ko Chang), to serve as the consultant for a project to develop an action plan for sustainable tourism in Ko Chang based on the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC).

As part of this project, a working team from BUUIC conducted a field visit to Ko Chang on July 21-22, 2025 to collect essential baseline data necessary for drafting the sustainable tourism development plan.

During this visit, a stakeholder consultation meeting was held with local authorities and government agencies in Ko Chang. The meeting was honored by the presence of Mr. Bunchoet Sorasang, District Chief Officer of Ko Chang, who presided over the event at Klong Prao Resort. The meeting aimed to gather input, strengths, weaknesses, and community-related issues, which will be used to guide and improve sustainable tourism development in the area.
