Burapha University International College Hosts Vibrant Songkran Festival to Preserve Thai Traditions

On April 3, 2025 – Burapha University International College (BUUIC) held a joyful and culturally rich Songkran Festival to celebrate Thailand’s traditional New Year and promote Thai cultural heritage among students, instructors, and staff. The event aimed to create a deeper appreciation for Thai customs, especially among international students, while fostering a sense of unity within the university community.

The festival commenced with a Buddha water-pouring ceremony, symbolizing purification and the washing away of misfortunes from the past year. Instructors, staff, and students gathered to offer their respects and seek blessings for prosperity and happiness in the year ahead.

Another highlight of the event was the Rod Nam Dum Hua ceremony, a time-honored tradition where younger participants respectfully poured scented water onto the hands of senior faculty members. This act of gratitude and humility represents respect for elders and the passing of wisdom from one generation to the next.

BUUIC remains committed to preserving and promoting Thailand’s rich cultural heritage through meaningful celebrations such as the Songkran Festival. The college looks forward to continuing this cherished tradition in the years to come, ensuring that future generations of students can participate in and appreciate the beauty of Thai culture.
